Renovations in Els Boscos, Tarragona

Villas by the sea, where the renovation doesn’t stop at the front door: house, porch, pool and garden, with interior design and a building envelope that finally insulates properly.

A villa in Els Boscos isn’t renovated room by room: it’s renovated as a whole, along with the porch, the pool and the garden. It’s a different kind of project, and that’s how we treat it.

To the east of Tarragona, facing the sea, sit the Els Boscos and Cala Romana developments, on the Llevant coast. Villas on generous plots, with a garden and a pool, a main home for some and a summer house for others. Here, renovation plays in a different league: plenty of space to work with, an outdoor area that’s part of daily life in the house, and a level of finishes and interior design that calls for a proper design project, not improvisation. The budget runs high because the scope does too, and the result gets enjoyed twelve months of the year.

House, outdoors and interior design, one single team

What makes renovating in Els Boscos different is having to think in three layers at once, and coordinate them so they fit together:

  • The house indoors: reworking large floor areas, high-end kitchens and bathrooms, floors and joinery to match.
  • The outdoors as another room: porch, pergola, pool, garden, lighting, and the driveways and paths you use every day.
  • The design that ties it together: interior design and planning so indoors and outdoors speak the same language, from the living room to the sun lounger.

A house project like this benefits when a single team runs it with one site manager: no one passes the buck, and decisions get made once, properly.

From insulation to the last detail

A renovation of this scale is organised in layers, starting with what’s least visible and most felt.

01

Building envelope and efficiency

Façade, roof, joinery and efficient climate control. By the sea, good insulation is what brings the bills down and the comfort up.

02

High-end kitchen and bathrooms

Central pieces of the house, with quality materials and fittings chosen with you at the design stage, not on the fly.

03

The outdoors, in full

Pool, porch, pergola and garden as part of the project, with lighting, irrigation and paving all coordinated together.

04

Interior design right to the end

Light, materials and bespoke furniture that finish the house off. Design isn’t tacked on at the end — it drives the whole project.

A villa calls for a project, not a quote pieced together bit by bit. Let’s start there.

A house built to enjoy the sea all year round

Renovating in Els Boscos is as much an exercise in interior design as it is building work: deciding how the living room opens onto the porch, which material stands up to the sea breeze without ageing badly, where the afternoon light falls across the pool. We treat it as a full renovation backed by a proper design project. And if you’re coming from the seafaring feel of El Serrallo, here you’ll find the same sea on a different scale: a plot, a garden and a whole house ahead of you.

Frequently asked questions

Do you also take care of the pool, the porch and the garden?

Yes, and we prefer it that way: the outdoor space of an Els Boscos villa is half the house. We renovate or build the pool and its filtration system, put up porches and pergolas, redo paving, garden lighting and irrigation, and sort out the driveways and paths. Because it’s coordinated with the indoor work by the same team, there are no gaps between inside and out, and no trades passing the blame to each other.

Do you improve the insulation and efficiency of an older villa?

It's one of the first things we look at, because in a large house by the sea it shows up in the bills and in comfort. We work on the building envelope — façade, roof and joinery with good glazing — check for thermal bridging, and propose efficient climate control, such as an air-source heat pump, depending on the case. The house ends up using considerably less energy and holding a steady temperature, in summer and winter alike.

Do you include interior design and a design project?

Yes. In this type of renovation, design isn’t an extra — it’s the thread that ties everything together. We work out materials, light, bespoke furniture and the relationship between the rooms and the outdoors with you, right down to the last detail. We don’t just carry out building work: we plan how you’re going to live in the house. You can see our approach on the interior design page and in our finished projects.
